FAQs
About SapereX
What does SapereX measure?
SapereX measures gene expression to quantify cellular senescence and immune function. Accumulation of senescent cells and declining immune function are both causes and drivers of aging.
How is SapereX actionable?
SapereX can reveal unexpected aging history - both risk and resilience. Results can also help you assess pre-treatment efficacy and potential of longevity interventions as well as post-treatment efficacy in an individual client.
Will SapereX reveal a biological age?
SapereX does not make claims about biological age as a single metric and SapereX is not an age. SapereX quantifies cellular senescence, a biological driver of human aging that, in the context of health history and other data, can help you assess your client's aging trajectory.
How is SapereX different from other aging tests?
In short, cellular senescence is an important cause of human aging. And the immune system can clear senescent cells. SapereX is the only test that measures these processes.
How often should my clients test?
Testing frequency depends on the nature of an individual's longevity protocol and other changes to their health. Clients making significant adjustments to their longevity protocols can see SapereX changes in as little as 3 months. Clients who have optimized their longevity protocols and are maintaining their lifestyle may choose annual testing.
Who can be tested?
SapereX can reveal unexpected aging history - both risk and resilience Results can also help you assess pre-treatment efficacy and potential of longevity interventions as well as post-treatment efficacy in an individual client.
Blood Collection
Do I need phlebotomy?
SapereX requires a blood sample collected by venipuncture. Samples can be collected in-house or via the use of mobile phlebotomy. While detailed sample collection and submission instructions are included with test kits, please note that Sapere Bio does not coordinate or manage mobile phlebotomists.

Samples cannot be drawn at third party facilities such as Labcorp or Quest.
Why Monday-Thursday?
SapereX samples must be pre-processed immediately upon receipt and our laboratory is not open on the weekend.
Is same-day shipping essential?
Yes. To maintain sample integrity, samples must be shipped on the same day they are collected.
Do I have to draw two tubes in one day?
The supplies provided with multi-test packs assume two samples are collected the same day and shipped in the same NanoCool. If you prefer to submit samples individually, additional NanoCool shippers can be ordered in the SapereX portal.
Does the blood sample need to be kept cold?
Yes. Blood sample must be refrigerated until same-day shipping in the NanoCool shipper. Please do not freeze.
Do I need to use gel packs?
No. The NanoCool shipper will begin cooling upon activation and will remain cold for the duration of shipping.
How do my clients prepare to test?
No special preparation is necessary. Day-to-day fluctions have not been observed with SapereX analytes. Clients do not need to fast, refrain from exercise, or pause their protocol before a SapereX test.
Ordering and Sample Return
Is SapereX available outside the US?
Currently, SapereX is only available in the US. If you'd like to partner with us on international testing, feel free to contact us to discuss possibilities.
Is SapereX available in all 50 states?
Not yet. SapereX is offered under CLIA/CAP. Accreditation in NY and CA will follow as state-specific inspections and requirements are met.
How do I order?
Provide information about you and your clinic through ‘Sign Up’ in the menu header. If you meet all qualifications, our team will activate access to the SapereX Customer Portal for ordering SapereX.
What do I do if I have a problem before or during a draw?
Most mishaps that occur in the clinic BEFORE RETURN SHIPPING, can be handled without additional cost. For example, if a collection tube is damaged or if insufficient blood volume has been collected, simply use another SapereX blood collection tube if you have a mutli-pack. Contact us for a replacement of the disqualified tube.
What if the sample is rejected for analysis?
If a sample is rejected for analysis, a member of our team will contact you with next steps. The sample will need to be re-drawn. Some charges may apply if SapereX instructions have not been followed. See terms and conditions.
Is Fedx the only way to ship samples?
Yes. Our packages have a preprinted label for your convenience. We have access to FedEx Surround, a service that allows extensive support if samples are delayed.
Results
Where can I find my clients' results?
Each clinic has access to a HIPAA-compliant, secure Dropbox folder with PDFs of individual results.
I heard results are typically back within 3 weeks. Is that true?
Yes. Sometimes even faster.
Will you help me interpret an unexpected result?
We love having conversations with clinicians. We'd be more than happy to schedule a 1:1 and share insights from years of testing and conversations with other clinicians to help you integrate SapereX into the larger clinical picture that will guide your interpretation.
